50th Anniversary Timeline

We Care Society, Inc.
501(c)(3) non-profit status is granted. Our occupational therapy program for children with multiple disabilities continues to serve children and young adults.

The children's building opened on Kirker Pass. Started mental health services for children with social, emotional, & behavioral issues. Barbara Milliff retired. Name changed to We Care Services for Children & the children's building named after Barbara Milliff. Mommy/Daddy/Me Groups begin.
Chaves Family donated the land on Kirker Pass Road for our children's center. The Japanese Cultural Center donated a building that became our administrative offices.

  Dedication of Memory Island Playground Evidence-based wraparound services were added. Parent education classes are added.
Port Chicago Naval Weapons Station donated buildings for the center. Home Baby Program, a home-based services for children birth - 18 mos. begins.   Name changed from We Care Treatment Center to the Barbara Milliff Children's Center Expansion to Central Concord Mental Health Clinic. Doubled mental health staff to increase service of children in need.  
Through volunteers & labor Unions, the buildings were refurbished and located on Kirker Pass     Started a support program for families in recovery. Celebrated We Care's 40th Anniversary.  
        Received a California Legislation Assembly Resolution from the Honorable Lynne C. Leach - 15th Assembly District and Honorable Richard K. Rainey - 7th Senatorial District.  
        Received a Certificate of Recognition from the California State Assembly - Tom Torlakson 11th Assembly District for 40 Years of Outstanding Service.  
        Received an Outstanding Contributions Business Recognition Award from the Concord Chamber & the City of Concord.  
        The Executive Director of We Care participated in the Walnut Festival Parade as the Grand Marshall.  
        Child Care Solutions program begins serving local preschools through a First Five of Contra Costa grant.  
        Autism Family Support Project, a support program for families of children on the Autism Spectrum scale started.  
        Autism summer camp added to our programs.  
        Added a State Preschool Program.
