I’m the mother of a child with special needs – Christian, the love of my life. Like all mothers, I feel joy in my child’s accomplishments – his first wobbly step, sweetly saying his first word. And like all mothers, I also worry – will my child be able to grow and reach his fullest potential? Will he be healthy and happy?
You see, Christian was born with Trisomy 21 (Down Syndrome). This means that things that come naturally to most babies – talking, rolling over, crawling – my little Christian must struggle and fight for. This is why I want to tell you about the miracles We Care makes happen for Christian, and for my family. Each new achievement Christian makes is because of the educational and therapeutic services provided by We Care’s outstanding therapists and teachers.
We Care assures that children like Christian get the best possible start in life. Just as important, Christian is enjoying his experience in We Care ’s specialized classes. Each day, he is learning new skills, making friends, and gaining more confidence.
Before Christian came to We Care, we were worried about what life would be like for him and for our family. At We Care, we know that Christian is getting the help and support he needs. We see now that the possibilities for him are limitless.
Yes, I still worry like any mother. But now I have faith that with We Care’s help, I will be able to focus on celebrating Christian’s accomplishments instead of feeling paralyzed with fear. With We Care’s help, my wishes for a healthy, happy child have started to come true.
